Con l’arrivo del 2016, il video di Out of the Woods di Taylor Swift è stato reso disponibile in Rete (noi lo riportiamo in fondo all’articolo): come promesso, la cantante ha presentato tale lavoro, che arriva dopo il successo di Shake It Off, Blank Space, Style, Bad Blood e Wildest Dreams, durante l’evento televisivo Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest, andato in onda il 31 dicembre 2015 sulla ABC.
Out of the Woods è estratto da 1989, ultimo e famoso album dell’artista, e la Nuova Zelanda è stata scelta come location per girare le riprese del video ufficiale, in cui vediamo Taylor scappare dalle insidie di una natura minacciosa, fatta di neve, lupi, rovi, rami, spine, un mare in tempesta e precipizi. Insomma, un percorso che sembra una metafora della strada che la protagonista deve compiere per ritrovare se stessa. “Lei lo ha perso – si legge nella scritta che compare nel video – ma ha trovato se stessa. E in qualche modo questo è tutto“. Una frase che racchiude il senso dell’intero video e del pezzo stesso.
Secondo molte teorie, il brano è uno di quelli che più di altri (vedi Style) sembrano riferirsi alla travagliata storia d’amore che in passato ha legato Taylor con il suo celebre ex fidanzato, Harry Styles, membro dei One Direction. In effetti i riferimenti ai loro trascorsi non mancano, soprattutto se si conoscono bene i gossip circolati in passato sul loro conto, ma nessuna conferma è mai stata resa ufficiale dalla cantante.
